    Advanced composite materials (ACMs) are also known as advanced polymer matrix are generally characterized or determined by unusually high strength fibres with unusually high stiffness, or modulus of elasticity characteristics, compared to other materials, while bound together by weaker matrices. These are termed advanced composite materials (ACM) in comparison to the composite.   Composites don't corrode, which is a plus, and they are also not subject to fatigue damage to the extent of metal structures. Because of this, new aircraft with composite fuselages, such as the Boeing , can provide some additional passenger comfort amenities not available on a metal aircraft.

    The most recent example of the application of advanced materials and structures in a new aircraft is the Boeing , which makes use of a number of new materials, including advanced aluminum and titanium alloys and toughened polymeric composites. The advanced materials applications are shown in figure II Composite structures are an example of a modern technology that allows commercial aircraft to reduce weight and improve range, while at the same time saving fuel. Stronger and lighter composite structures for fighter aircraft allow for increased performance while at the same time increasing the payload.
